LETTER FROM JUDEA PEARL TO NITZA SPIRO AND THE SPIRO ARK

Dear Nitza,

We thank you for being part of the 11th Annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days and for dedicating your "When Able Met Cain" production in honour of our son, Daniel Pearl. On this year, which marks the 10th anniversary of Daniel's murder, we feel a special urge to be with you, and to listen to your inspiring music again, but we can only send you this blessing from a distance and know that Danny's spirit is with us all.

Danny travelled the world with a pen and a violin connecting people through words and music. Today, we take pride in the global symphony that his journey has inspired. The music that will be performed from your stage today will serve a purpose -- for it will blend with the sounds of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of other concerts from around the world that ring the world for sanity and humanity each October.

By dedicating your show to Danny, you elevate your music from the acoustics of one theatre onto the balcony of the 21st century and transform it into a potent statement of purpose, unity, and empowerment. Your music will resonate today in sharp defiance of the forces of hatred that took Danny's life, and will reinforce our unshaken conviction that, at the end of the day, music will triumph and humanity will prevail.

Our deepest appreciation goes to Nitza Spiro, her team at the Spiro Ark and all the wonderful performers who helped put together this majestic event.
United, we will make a difference.
